USB Memory Card Reader

August 10th, 2009 by Redsave

We remember when memory cards first appeared, not only were they huge compared to current cards, but they were an exotic new technology and very expensive. Now they’re smaller, cheaper and very, very common.

They’re used in digital cameras, phones, laptops, PDAs, GPS units and more. Chances are you’ve got several lying around the house. The trouble is that there are a ridiculous number of different types of card and as well as getting confused about what’s what, you might have some problems accessing them on a computer as card readers may only accept one or two types.

A solution is to get one reader that’s compatible with lots of different cards, and this handy USB card reader from Redsave does the job at a very low price as it supports the following types of memory card:

CompactFlash (I, II and Ultra)
Micro Drive/SMC/xD
MiniSD/T-Flash
SD (Ultra, MMC)
Memory Stick (Pro Duo, Duo, MG, Pro)

That covers the most common memory cards that you’re likely to encounter!

The USB Card Reader slots straight into a spare USB port so you can use it on any system, and it’s small so easily dropped into your bag for travelling. On the end is a cap that pops off to reveal the card slots, no software is needed so all you’ve got to do is plug it in and you can access the card’s storage from your PC.

But now Redsave has the perfect answer in the form of this fantastic gift experience. The Supercar Sensation allows you to give the gift of a Ferrari by letting your recipient drive very very fast around a track in a powerful sports car.

The owner of this gift pack will get the chance to take out a Ferrari 355 or 360 sports car on 3 laps round the famous Silverstone course. Inside the gift pack is all the information they need, so they can book the drive on any day that’s convenient.

On arriving at Silverstone you’ll receive an in-car briefing from a professional instructor who’ll explain everything you need to know about the car and the track, and then you go out and take these high powered cars for a spin. Cool Gifts for your Home

August 7th, 2009 by Redsave

Brighten up your home with one of the many great household items available at Redsave.

Mood Beams
The cute mood beams are a huge cult hit. These funky little characters put on an interactive light show, slowly changing colour in time with music. They make great mood lamps for bedrooms  and living rooms and come in a wide variety of designs.

Gumball Poster
At a glance this looks like a normal poster. It’s very colourful and kitsch, ideal for a retro living room or office. But as you get closer to the Gumball Poster, you realise that something’s not quite right. This isn’t just a picture of a gumball machine, it actually works. Cleverly built into a frame, this flat machine doesn’t need money, just twist the handle for a treat.

Sun Jar
You keep jam in a jam jar and sun in the Sun Jar. Leave the Sun Jar in light during the day and it charges up, then at night the Sun Jar turns itself on and unleashes the stored energy with a pleasant glow for up to 5 hours.

Digital Talking Photo Frame
Unlike the digital photo frames this doesn’t have a built-in display, but it’s not completely devoid of technological wizardry. Place your favourite photo in the frame like normal, then use the button on the back to record a 10 second message that will be played when anyone touches the glass. Great as a romantic or funny gift.

iPod Accessories

August 6th, 2009 by Redsave

The world-beating iPod is without a doubt the best music player around, and easily the most popular. There are loads of great accessories you can buy for your iPod and Redsave stocks a great selection. Here are some of our favourites.

Maxell iPod Docking Station
The powerful Maxell docking station for iPod’s allows you to turn your portable music player into a stereo so everyone can enjoy it. This is a 2.1 speaker set, which means that in addition to the pair of speakers you also receive a sub-woofer for extra-strong bass. The dock is compatible with the standard iPod dock so the speakers work with the iPod Classic 5G, 4G, 3G and the Mini and Nano.

Belkin TuneFM
The Belkin TuneFM works with iPod Nano’s only, but is absolutely essential if you’re a Nano owner and have a car. The TuneFM beams audio from the Nano over an FM signal that any nearby radio can pick up, the idea being that you tune your car radio into the same frequency and listen to music without any wires.

Mini Speaker Bag
The Speaker Bag not only protects your iPod from damage, but the built-in speaker allows you to turn your iPod into a portable stereo, so it’s really handy for car journeys and trips to the beach and park. This one isn’t specifically for iPods and actually works with any audio player that has a 3.5mm cable.

Ez Music Showcase
This amazing iPod speaker lets you use your iPod music player anywhere. Once inside the case it forms an airtight seal that not only protects against falls and scratches, but also against water. You can take this on holiday and use it safely by the pool without having to worry about water damage.

Rechargeable Compressor

August 5th, 2009 by Redsave

This rugged Rechargeable Compressor is another essential addition to your in-car emergency set.

For one thing, it looks the business with a tough, no-nonsense case that looks as though it can take some punishment. More important though it offers lots of really handy features. This compressor may be portable and compact but it can inflate to 260pso and also packs in some other useful extras.

Sports SatNav

August 4th, 2009 by Redsave

The GPS satellite network was originally intended as an aid for the US military to help them coordinate their forces, but just like they can’t have imagined the internet being used to view silly videos and pictures of kittens, they probably didn’t expect GPS to become popular with your Dad to help him drive.

We’re fairly certain they never predicted ‘geocaching’ either. Geocaching is a sport that grew up from the use of portable hand-held satnav units, and involves people running around the countryside in search of hidden treasure.

The idea is that somebody hides a ‘cache’ (could be a note or a random object or anything really) somewhere in the country and then provides coordinates, at which point you march off with your GPS device to see if you can find this hidden prize.
The Sports GPS is not explicitly intended for this purpose, but it is very well suited. It’s designed for outdoor activities so can take some rough treatment and it’s small enough to slip into a pocket.

This isn’t a conventional satnav unit like you have in a car, it doesn’t display a map showing your location. What it does instead is show coordinates and directions. It’s for more advanced users who will combine it with a trusty Ordnance Survey map to find their way around.

If you’re into hiking, cross-country running, cycling, geocaching and other outdoor pursuits then it’s a really handy gadget to have around, and it’s fairly inexpensive too.

Samsung F1080 DVD Player

August 4th, 2009 by Redsave

HD televisions are getting increasingly popular as people gradually replace their old CRT sets with slimmer flat panel models. HD screens can offer an amazing viewing experience, but one problem is that to get the best out of them you to be watching HD content.

That means a Blu-Ray player and Blu-Ray movies, or perhaps a Sky HD box. If not, everything you watch will be in standard definition and not look particularly impressive. But why should you replace all those DVDs you’ve bought? The good news is you don’t have to, not with this Samsung F1080 DVD Player.

The F1080 is a stylish and slick DVD player, but it has a very special function that puts it above others. The F1080 is capable of upscaling normal DVDs. This means that it improves the quality of DVDs to almost match the picture of a high definition video, so you don’t have to sell your old discs and your high def screen isn’t going to waste.

You don’t need to do anything different, just slot the disc in and it will upscale the picture automatically to match your TV. The F1080 is capable of upscaling to 720p, 1080i and 1080p, so it’s suitable for all current high def televisions.  And not only that but the F1080 can also player DivX and MPEG-4 movies and WMA and MP3 audio files, so you can view downloaded video and your own photos through your TV.
