Rubik’s Cube

The original and still the best, Rubik’s Cube is one of the most popular puzzles ever created. It’s the biggest and fast selling cult toy of all time and ever since it appeared in 1982 it’s been a constant fixture on kid’s Christmas lists.
It’s a design classic that hasn’t changed for almost 30 years and the current Rubik’s Cube is the same as the original model, with six different coloured sides (red, blue, green, white, yellow and black), each made up of nine squares. Out of the box these coloured squares are neatly lined up, but after the faces are jumbled up you have to twist them to return each coloured square to its original place. Sounds pretty simple? You’d be surprised!
The Rubik’s Cube is now so popular that there are world record breaking competitions held all over the world. Some re held under water, some blindfolded, some are even completed using just the player’s feet. The current record is held by a Czech man who solved a cube in 7.08 seconds. 7.08 minutes for most people is a good time, so you’d best get practicing if you’re in with a hope of beating the best!
There are a staggering 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 ways of arranging the squares, and only one of these is the solution. Do you think you can solve the puzzle of the Rubik’s Cube?
